Msn games cheat engine

Recon Sniper C Xbox Ambassador. Hey just had a quick question because I want confirmation. I've played the Surge 2 on Xbox like 5 times all the way through and at this point I just want to mess around and have fun, so I wanted to use cheat engine to lock my scrap in the game.

I figured this would be a bannable offense, so I didn't do it but I used the Microsoft Support chat message with an xbox gamer , and that person told me it would be totally fine. I'm still not sure so I'm asking here for confirmation, because I don't think that xbox would unban me if I tried to use "the message with an xbox gamer chat told me it would be fine" as a defense.
