All types of non-AIDS applications allowed for this funding opportunity announcement are due on the listed date s. Applicants are encouraged to apply corrections to errors found in the application during the submission process by the due date..
All applications are due by PM local time of applicant organization. Applicants are encouraged to apply early to allow adequate time to make any corrections to errors found in the application during the submission process by the due date. Standard dates apply.
Conformance to all requirements both in the Application Guide and the FOA is required and strictly enforced. Applicants must read and follow all application instructions in the Application Guide as well as any program-specific instructions noted in Section IV.
When the program-specific instructions deviate from those in the Application Guide, follow the program-specific instructions. Applications that do not comply with these instructions may be delayed or not accepted for review. There are several options available to submit your application through Grants. You must use one of these submission options to access the application forms for this opportunity.
Part 1. Overview Information Part 2. Full Text of the Announcement. Section I. Eligibility Information Section IV. Application and Submission Information Section V. Other Information. P01 grants support integrated, multiproject research programs involving a number of independent investigators who share knowledge and common resources while working towards a unifying overall scientific goal.
The NCI provides support for Program Projects in the belief that a collaborative research effort can accelerate the acquisition of knowledge more effectively than a simple aggregate of research projects that have no interaction or thematic integration.
Therefore, every P01 Program Project proposed should have a well-defined unifying research theme. Each Program Project application must include at least three projects and an Administrative Core.
However, all the projects must be relevant to the common unifying central theme or focus, and the overall objective of the entire Program. Each individual project should reflect a self-standing scientifically meritorious research effort. In addition, however, the individual projects should be clearly interrelated and synergistic so that the research ideas, efforts, and outcomes of the Program as a whole will offer a distinct advantage over pursuing the individual projects separately.
This FOA invites multidisciplinary coordinated research programs in any of the broad areas of cancer research, including but not limited to studies of cancer biology, cancer prevention, cancer diagnosis, cancer treatment, and cancer control.
The objective of the Program Project is to support an integrated, collaborative research Program with a well-defined, central research focus or objective. Minimum Number of Research Projects required : Each P01 application must include at least three related research projects.
Administrative Core required : This core will provide the organizational and administrative management of the Program, plans for monitoring of progress, and plans for effective coordination and communication within the Program. Shared Resource Core s optional : Applicants may propose one or more Shared Resource Cores if needed for the proposed research. Other Information for award authorities and regulations. Grant: A support mechanism providing money, property, or both to an eligible entity to carry out an approved project or activity.
Only those application types listed here are allowed for this FOA. Need help determining whether you are doing a clinical trial?
The number of awards is contingent upon NIH appropriations and the submission of a sufficient number of meritorious applications. The scope of the proposed project should determine the project period.
The maximum project period is 5 years. Non-domestic non-U. Organizations are not eligible to apply. All registrations must be completed prior to the application being submitted.
Registration can take 6 weeks or more, so applicants should begin the registration process as soon as possible.
The NIH Policy on Late Submission of Grant Applications states that failure to complete registrations in advance of a due date is not a valid reason for a late submission. Obtaining an eRA Commons account can take up to 2 weeks. Individuals from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups as well as individuals with disabilities are always encouraged to apply for NIH support.
Applicant organizations may submit more than one application, provided that each application is scientifically distinct.
The NIH will not accept duplicate or highly overlapping applications under review at the same time. This means that the NIH will not accept:. The application forms package specific to this opportunity must be accessed through ASSIST or an institutional system-to-system solution.
See your administrative office for instructions if you plan to use an institutional system-to-system solution. Conformance to the requirements in the Application Guide is required and strictly enforced. Applications that are out of compliance with these instructions may be delayed or not accepted for review. Although a letter of intent is not required, is not binding, and does not enter into the review of a subsequent application, the information that it contains allows IC staff to estimate the potential review workload and plan the review.
By the date listed in Part 1. Overview Information , prospective applicants are asked to submit a letter of intent that includes the following information:. Revision applications must include an Overall component and the components that are affected by the revision. Therefore, the component requirements listed below may not apply to the revision application. Note: Human Embryonic Stem Cell lines from other components should be repeated in cell line table in Overall component.
Facilities and Other Resources: Briefly summarize and document the overall institutional environment, resources, and commitments that are relevant to effective implementation of the entire Program Project.
Describe how the proposed projects and shared resource cores will use the facilities and resources available at the overall Program level. Describe how the Program as a whole will benefit from any laboratories, patient populations, and collaborations. A budget summary in the Overall section of the assembled application image in eRA Commons compiled from detailed budget data collected in the other components will be generated upon submission.
Introduction to Application: For Resubmission and Revision applications, an Introduction to Application is required in the Overall component. Are facilities and administrative costs for the second tier consortium included in the direct costs?
Evidence for independence may include: The candidate has a full-time faculty position. Can I submit this as an A1 application, with the larger budget? Can I do that? Can we still receive the requested budget if the application is awarded? Can we request the higher budget, even though the Project is no longer led by an ESI?
After 5 years of support, we would like to submit a Renewal Type 2 application. Will we be able to submit an application with the increased budget if the ESI Project Lead loses ESI status due to award of an R01 or time after terminal degree in the intervening years? I do not plan to include an Administrative Core in my application. How will reviewers know how I plan to organize and lead my PPG?
How will justification of a Scientific Core be assessed? If the Vertebrate Animal Sections of the Projects fully describe the involvement of live vertebrate animals, do we need to include a vertebrate animal section in the Cores as well? If the Protection of Human Subjects Sections of the Projects fully describe the involvement of human subjects, do we need to include a Protection of Human Subjects section in the Cores as well?
The Tailored Review Committee will: Provide an overall assessment of each Project based on its intrinsic and scientific merit within the field and provide a percentile descriptor ranking score of that Project broken down into seven categories i.
Assign numerical scores to each scored criterion and provide written critiques of the strengths and weaknesses of the scored review criteria. Rate each Core as "Recommended" or "Not Recommended" based on whether it is essential and justified for the proposed research and has the capability to fulfill the proposed function.
